This innovative development was established on a part of the decommissioned Kiama hospital site. This project involved local and state government authorities. Gran Associates designed and built a Community Health Centre, now operational, and providing a dental clinic, consulting rooms, audiometry facility, meeting and function rooms, and administration.
Next door, Kiama council continues construction of a new aged care facility to be managed by Council. Both of the commissioning parties recognised the opportunities for this project, enabling links between the aged care facility and the local community.
The restrained pavilion design makes the appropriate gesture to the adjacent Victorian era mansion (a local heritage item) which is incorporated in the aged care facility. It also echoes the residential character of the neighbourhood.
